Five students from Prosper ISD in Prosper, Texas traveled to Orlando January 13-16, 2017 to compete in the Disney 3v3 Soccer Championships at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Prosper 2nd graders Kennedy Johns, Khloe Griffith and Leah Edler along with their Magic teammates Lauren Alvarez and Logan Thevenot from Frisco, Texas coached by Ozzie Alvarez, won the U9 girls Elite Invitational Division.  The team was undefeated through 7 games in the tournament with wins over teams from Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee, Maryland and Oklahoma scoring 57 goals while only allowing 13. 

Prosper 4th grader Lauren Edler and her SWAT (Soccer With A’Tude) teammates Kylie Baccam, Reina Castro and Camryn McKinnie, coached by Syla Baccam battled through the U11 Elite Invitational Division coming up just short in the finals placing 2nd out of 18 teams.  Advancing to the Gold bracket after pool play the team had wins over 3 different teams from New Jersey and teams from Illinois, North Carolina and Maryland only conceding to Connecticut United who was crowned the Champion.

Prosper 7th grader Hadley Murrell and her SWAT (Soccer With A’Tude) teammates Avril Baccam, Mackenzie Davis and Cassie Clifton coached by Syla Baccam took Gold in the U14 Elite Invitational Division.  The girls won their bracket with wins over teams from Wisconsin, Florida, Kentucky and Georgia dropping a game to a team from New Jersey.  Heading into the semi-finals the girls bounced back with two strong wins to take gold.

The Disney 3v3 Soccer Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports is the ultimate culmination of 3v3 competitions nationwide.
